Toyota Prado 250 Work & Tour Build
Built by Adrenalin Pakenham – Ironman Platinum Store
Build Overview
This Prado 250 build started when the customer came into store after purchasing their new vehicle
and wanted to explore the best upgrade options for touring and day-to-day use.
This vehicle has been built with touring in mind — the kind of setup designed to follow the tracks mapped out by Hema Maps. It knows the backroads, it’s built for the long way around.
After going through how they planned to use the vehicle, we recommended the Ironman Iron Pack 250 package, which was on promotion at the time of the build and suited their intended touring setup perfectly.
The goal with this build was to create a capable and practical touring vehicle with the right mix
of protection, recovery, storage, suspension, and off-grid power for extended travel.
Current Vehicle Setup
The customer is putting together a well-balanced touring build focused on off-road capability,
reliability, and practical storage.
Front Protection & Recovery
- Apex Bull Bar – strong frontal protection for touring and animal strike defence.
- Saber 12,000lb Winch – dependable recovery capability for off-road conditions.
Lighting
- 9” Scope Neo Driving Lights – improved visibility for night driving and remote travel.
Suspension
- Ironman IM 2.5 Suspension Kit (Heavy Load) – designed to support added vehicle weight while maintaining ride quality and control.
Roof Storage
- Raid Roof Rack – increases carrying capacity for touring gear and larger items.
Rear Storage
- Rear Drawer System (Standard Height with Roller Tops) – functional storage solution that keeps gear organised and easy to access.
Planned Upgrades & Electrical Setup
The next stage of the build focuses on power management and touring comfort, giving the customer
the ability to travel more comfortably and independently for longer periods.
- Custom Ultra-Slim 230Ah Lithium Battery – high-capacity power solution with a compact footprint, ideal for integrating into a drawer-based setup.
- Redarc 2000W Inverter – allows use of 240V appliances while off-grid, including items like a hair dryer and CPAP machine.
- Integrated Power Panel – mounted to the drawer infill panel for easy access to outlets and controls, while keeping the setup neat and user-friendly.
Built for Practical Touring
This Toyota Prado 250 is being built as a capable touring vehicle that balances off-road performance with practical everyday usability.
With a strong foundation already in place, the addition of the lithium battery system, inverter, and integrated power panel will turn this into a comfortable and self-sufficient touring setup ready for extended time away.
It is a clean, functional build designed for real travel, with every accessory chosen to improve
the vehicle’s capability, comfort, and reliability.
