Lift kits are for the adventurous 4WD owners
If you are getting a bit more serious about your four wheel driving and exploring further into Australia’s rugged terrain you will quickly realise that most standard 4WD’s may not have enough ground clearance.
Once you venture into the outback on a 4WD adventure there are less and less roads that are maintained and you’ll be driving on bush trails that suffer from errosion, rock falls and sediment movements. This can create terrain which is uneven, has big ruts and huge obstacles to clear on slight or very steep gradients.

A suspension lift kit is a fairly common modification that is done to a 4WD to raise the overall height and obtain between 2 or 4 extra inches of ground clearance. This can help your vehicle’s off-road performance as it can avoid more obstacles while driving over rougher terrain. Each state has its own regulations but currently, in NSW there is an allowance of a 50mm lift or 2 inches (increase in vehicle height due to suspension and/or tyres) with anything higher than this may require certification, its important to check the current regulations for your state.
