Description
Simpson Desert Expedition Truck Tag Along Tour
The Simpson Desert Expedition Truck Tag Along Tour is a next-level desert crossing designed specifically for expedition trucks including Unimog, Iveco, MAN and heavy touring rigs. This tour is about much more than the Simpson crossing. You’ll travel through the stunning Flinders Ranges, follow the iconic Oodnadatta Track, and stop in at some of the great outback pubs and attractions that give this part of Australia its character. It’s a journey that unfolds slowly, with plenty to see, plenty of stories to collect and plenty of moments that make the trip just as enjoyable as the destination.
The pace is carefully suited to heavy expedition vehicles, allowing time to drive comfortably, enjoy the landscapes, soak up the atmosphere and truly experience each location. From historic settlements to classic outback pubs, the journey builds steadily before the desert even begins, making the entire trip just as rewarding as the crossing itself.
Once the convoy turns into the desert, the landscape opens into a spectacular mix of rolling dunes, vast salt pans, sweeping clay pans and endless horizons that define the heart of the Simpson. You’ll pass through iconic locations including Poeppel Corner, where three states meet in the middle of the desert, and for those keen, there’s the chance to line up and take on the legendary Big Red, or just sit back and enjoy watching the other big rigs take on the giant dune.
It’s four days of immersive desert driving, steady progress and unforgettable scenery, finishing with the satisfying roll into Birdsville for a well-earned drink and dinner on us, surrounded by the stories you’ve just earned.
This is not a standard 4WD tour scaled up. It’s a purpose-built expedition focused on the reward of taking your truck into the Australian Outback.
