Discover one of South Australia’s most spectacular outback regions on our fully guided Flinders Ranges 4WD Tag Along Tour. Over six unforgettable days, we’ll take you through rugged mountain ranges, ancient gorges, historic outback towns, privately owned stations and some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the country.
Starting near Port Augusta, we’ll make our way deep into the Flinders Ranges, exploring iconic destinations including Wilpena Pound, Blinman, Willow Springs, Arkaroola and the Gammon Ranges, along with spectacular drives through some of the region’s famous gorges.
This tour isn’t just about the driving. Along the way you’ll discover the incredible history, geology and wildlife of the Flinders, including a guided experience at Nilpena Ediacara National Park, home to fossils that tell the story of some of the earliest complex life on Earth.
Days are spent exploring the tracks and station country, while nights are spent camping beneath huge outback skies. With a mix of organised experiences, remote camps and classic outback hospitality, it’s a brilliant introduction to touring the Flinders Ranges.

- Basic recovery gear – snatch strap, rated shackles/soft shackles, shovel etc.
- UHF radio – 80 channel – vehicle mounted or handheld.
- Camping gear – tent, swag, stretcher or suitable camping setup.

- Cooking equipment, food and snacks.
- Enough water & drinks for you and your passengers.
- Suitable clothing for changing outback conditions.

⛽ Fuel & range
Your vehicle should have sufficient fuel capacity for approximately 500 km between fuel stops. Fuel will be available at various locations throughout the tour.
We’ll provide further fuel planning information to booked guests before departure.

- Suitable, roadworthy 4WD vehicle in good mechanical condition.
- Basic recovery equipment must be carried.
- All vehicles must be registered and roadworthy.
- Comprehensive vehicle insurance that covers off-road use is required.
- Licensed drivers only.
- This tour is rated Easy / Moderate.
- Some previous 4WD experience is recommended.
- Off-road camper trailers may be permitted by prior approval. Please contact us before booking so we can confirm your trailer is suitable for the planned route.

📝 Bookings, payments & group size
- Bookings are essential – only registered customers can join the trip.
- Group size: strictly limited to 10 customer vehicles.
- Minimum numbers: the tour will only proceed once minimum vehicle numbers are reached – 4 vehicles
- Deposit: $500 non-refundable deposit per vehicle is payable at booking.
- Final payment: due 6 weeks prior to tour departure.

❓ Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be an experienced 4WD driver?
No. This is an Easy / Moderate tour and is suitable for drivers with some basic 4WD experience. Our guides will provide advice and guidance throughout the tour.
Can I bring a camper trailer?
Suitable off-road camper trailers may be permitted by prior approval. We need to confirm the trailer is appropriate for the tracks and conditions before your booking is finalised, so please contact us first.
Can I bring pets?
No pets are permitted on this tour as we travel through National Parks and other areas where domestic animals are prohibited.
What insurance do I need?
You must have Comprehensive Vehicle Insurance that covers off-road use. Please confirm your level of cover directly with your insurer before departure.
Is the tour fully catered?
No. The tour is primarily self-catered. Your welcome dinner and farewell dinner are included, with guests providing their own meals for the remainder of the tour.
What happens if weather or track closures affect the itinerary?
Access to tracks and attractions can change due to rain, track closures and other local conditions. If a planned section becomes unsafe or unsuitable, our guides will use alternate routes or attractions where possible. Safety will always come first.
