SXS Buggy Tour - 6 Day Adventure: A Trip to Remember

We’ve just wrapped up our newest Hema Tour product, a set of 6-Day SXS Buggy Tours through the Simpson Desert, and we couldn’t be more happy with how it all came together. From start to finish, this trip had it all — incredible weather, unforgettable scenery, challenging dunes, and a fantastic group of people who loved the adventure! Our freshly built Isuzu ex-firetruck performed perfectly as our support and equipment vehicle, jumping ahead of the pack each day and providing supplies that are unable to be carried by the SXS vehicles on this adventure.
The Simpson Desert put on a real show for us. Thanks to some recent rain, the desert landscape was green with clay pans full of water. Some areas looked like a grassed golf course! We saw lots of wildlife about too – plenty of camels, dingos and budgies were out enjoying the vegetation and water, including a giant scrub bull in a very remote part of the desert, that probably has never seen a person in its life.
One of the standout features of these tours is being able to guide our group along untracked areas, thanks to the permission of the local Indigenous landowners. With no accessibility into these remote areas, we saw untouched areas and natural formations in parts of the desert that people don’t ever see, and we’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to show our groups this incredible place.
Our SXS buggies were in their element — climbing big dunes, powering through soft sand, and enjoying the everchanging scenery along the way. This is a unique way to experience the Simpson desert.
Each night, we gathered around the fire for a nice warm meal, great conversation, more than a few laughs and recapping the days adventure.
