Embark on an unforgettable 13-day adventure through the breathtaking landscapes of the Simpson Desert on our new desert loop tour.  This journey is designed for those who want to explore the best parts the Simpson has to offer, plus a little more along the way. Whether you’re an experienced traveler or new to the outback, this tour offers an exciting experience of one of Australia’s most iconic regions.

Prepare to be amazed as you traverse vast sand dunes, encounter unique wildlife, and ultimately forge lifelong connections with fellow adventurers. This tour has all your Simpson Desert highlights rolled into one – completing the Hay River Track, seeing part of the Madigan Line and crossing the desert from east to west.

This tour commences in Alice Springs and finish up at in Alice Springs. You will visit three states on this tour – Northern Territory, South Australia and QLD (at one point, all at once!) There will be a rest day in Birdsville on day 8 where you will be able to rest and restock for the next 5 days on tour.

You’ll travel in a convoy of 4WD vehicles, with each participant driving their own vehicle with guidance and support from our experienced guides. Each night we sets up camp in a new location under the stars while swapping stories with fellow adventurers around the fire or at the pub.

Camper trailers strongly discouraged, but may be permitted on application. Sorry, no domestic pets allowed due to entering National Parks.

What to bring

  • Sand Flag, these can be purchased from our shop
  • Basic Recovery Gear (Snatch strap, shackles etc)
  • UHF Radio 80 Channel (Car mounted or portable)
  • Camping gear (Tent, Swag etc)
  • Camp Chairs
  • Changes of clothes for the time we’re away, suitable to the weather conditions
  • Food and drinks and cooking gear
  • Be able to carry enough water for your passengers.
  • Hat, sunscreen, sun glasses, toiletries, medication
  • Cash, for times EFT may be down in outback petrol station and pubs

Fuel

If you do not have a long-range or auxiliary fuel tank we suggest you bring 2 jerry cans for fuel. There will be times where we will be traveling for distances and potentially not have access to refuel. The longest stretch you will be covering is around 650kms of sand driving.

Vehicle/driver suitability

  • Front and rear recovery points are required for this trip.
  • Good off-road / All Terrain Tyres in good condition with at least one spare.
  • This an easy to moderate trip in terms of difficulty, participating drivers do not need to have previous 4WD experience before joining this trip.
  • A sand flag must be used when crossing the desert.
  • All drivers must be licensed
  • Vehicles must be registered and in roadworthy condition
  • Comprehensive Vehicle Insurance is required

BONUS

FREE pre and post trip inspections in our workshop for each vehicle registered for the trip. Inspections must be booked with the shop at Narellan, NSW or Pakenham, VIC.

BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL ON THIS TRIP

  • This tour will only run once it has reached minimum participant numbers – 6 vehicles
